Stripes and Denim

Today's look is all about playing with textures and prints. I would normally pair this striped skirt with a basic black or white top, but I wanted to mix it up today. Sometimes you have to step outside your comfort zone and be a little daring. So I decided to pair a worn in denim shirt with a elastic striped black and white skater skirt. I'm pretty happy with the outcome of this outfit and I actually got a few compliments wearing it out today! What are some of your fashion risk you have recently taken? Let me know in the comments below. I hope you guys are having a great start to your week. Until next time…

DIY Floral Headband

On Tuesday I posted a look inspired by festival season. In the post I was wearing a floral headband which I made myself! Since the headband was so easy to create, I decided to make a tutorial showing you all how to make one. I hope you all had a great week and Good Luck!

I would love to see your own recreations of this floral headband. Post a picture with your headband, tag me in the picture and hashtag #diyfashionista.

Black & Yellow

It's starting to get a little chilly in LA, which is not fun after having near summer weather. However, cooler weather means I get to layer which is always fun! I decided to pair a black aztec print cardigan with a chartreuse skirt. I love the color combo and the laid back feel. Sometimes I like to step out of my comfort zone and wear things I usually would never think of. What have you worn that is outside your comfort zone? Post a link below, I would love to see your adventurous fashion choices!

Peace & Love

Sometimes you just want to feel comfortable! Today's look was inspired by music festival season, but in a casual and affordable way. When you running errands on the weekends, you do not want to be in 5 inch heels and a mini skirt because I'm pretty sure the folks at Target will be looking at you a bit funny! Almost everything I'm wearing today is from TJ-Maxx. I've re-discovered TJ-Maxx after moving to California. The selection at the store near me definitely has me wanting to go on a crazy shopping spree. My entire outfit was under $70, can you believe that?

I also styled my outfit today in tribute to all those, including myself, that wished they could be at Coachella this year! Music festivals are so much fun! I'm hoping to score tickets to next year festivities. Comment below if anyone is going, I would love to see your outfits!

My Fav Maxi

On Saturday, my husband decided to surprise me with a date out on the town. He didn't tell me where we were going, his only instructions was to dress up. So thats what I did! I bought this maxi dress a week ago at Macys. The color instantly drew me in! I love wearing flowy maxi dresses in the spring. Not only are they super comfortable, they are also feminine. I decided to pair this neon coral maxi dress with turquoise accessories. I love the color combo, for some reason when I think about coral and turquoise I instantly think about vacationing on a island.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and I'll see you in my next post!

Double Take

I wanted to show you all today how to style a white embosses sweatshirt 2 ways. Re-inventing outfits in your closet is probably one of the most interesting things. You can totally change the entire look of an outfit by just switching the bottom or vice versa. It's about being creative and finding new ways to reinvent the outfit. Don't be shy to wear something you already wore to school or work again. Adding a relaxed pair of jeans with a sequined top can give your outfit a daytime feel. However, by changing the jeans into a leather skirt, your outfit can quickly turn into day to night. Let me know in the comments section below if you would like to see more of this segment on my blog! Until next time…

Back to the 90's

I am super excited for the 90's trend going on this season. However, it's very important you try to modernize this trend so you don't look too outdated. Growing up in the 90's, I had to jump on this trend bandwagon. I paired a crop sweater with a floral print skater skirt and over the knee socks. I wore open toe wedges to give the look a modern twist. I was a major fan of clueless and this outfit totally reminds me of Cher Howoritz! What 90's pop culture icon/movie inspires you? Let me know in the comments below.

Fun at Sea

This weekend my husband took me Whale Watching at Newport Beach. It was a great experience and an awesome way to kick off my Birthday weekend celebration. I love the ocean and I love the sea, so this was something that  I was totally excited for!  Plus, I love whales and dolphins and seals and fishes….basically all aquatic animals! I decided to wear something very casual because we were on a boat. I know today's outfit isn't as exciting, but I hope you guys enjoy today's post!

Tell Em' That's It's My Birthday!

First off I want to apologize for the bad image quality of the pictures. Imran (my husband) got home a little late from work yesterday. The sun was setting when we were leaving so I just decided to take the pictures quickly outside. I also apologize for the ugly background! I really wanted to post up my Birthday outfit. We went to a really nice restaurant and got some macaroons for dessert so the night was perfect! I'll be doing some exciting things this weekend and sure enough I'll have some photos to share. Until next time!

Cotton Candy

I love the colors of candy, especially for Spring! Pastels just transform any outfit to a more delicate and feminine look. Today I paired this structured, embossed sweater with a flowy pastel coral skirt. I wanted to add a delicate touch to this very structured piece.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Striped Illusion

I have been eyeing this skirt from Express and I'm so happy I finally got my hands on it! I love the ladylike silhouette of the skirt. The see through panel adds a touch of sass that makes the skirt look very contemporary and desiner-esque! The weather is starting to get nicer here in LA, so I'm going to wear the heck out of this skirt before it gets too unbearably hot! Let me know if there are any key items you are excited to wear this spring and are planning to wear them over and over!

Spring Fling

The weather is starting to warm up, which means Spring must be in the air. Spring is definitely one of my favorite seasons. It just lifts your spirits knowing the weather is beginning to get nicer! Today's outfit was inspired by spring's blooming florals. I paired a floral print dress with a neutral bag and flats to give my outfit some balance. Side note, the 90's is totally in this season and I'm loving it! I don't know about you guys, but this dress totally made me feel like the pink power ranger (who was known for wearing easy skater dresses). I know, geek moment. What are your favorite pieces for Spring? Leave me a comment below telling me what your favorite pieces are and don't forget to leave a link to your blog below so I can check them out!

DIY FRIDAY-Picture Frame Earring Holder

I decided to create a new DIY segment every Fridays called DIY Fridays. I wanted to mix things up a bit and give you all some crafty inspiration. Today I created a earring holder from a picture frame. I created one a while back when I was in NY, but I couldn't bring it over to LA with me. While I'm still waiting for my Jewelry Armoire, I decided to create this same jewelry holder but with colors that will match my apartment. 't was super easy and you can basically use any color combo you like! Let me know in the comments down below what kind of DIY's you would all like to see in the future. Enjoy!

All you need to re-create this Earring Holder is:
11"x14" Picture Frame-Hobby Lobby
1/2 yard of fabric(if the fabric's width is 45 inches, you should get a full yard to be on the safe side)-Joanns Fabrics
Glue Gun and Glue Sticks-Michaels
Scissors-The Dollar Tree
Clear Nail Polish-Inglot(any brand would be fine)
*Optional-Sewing Machine(This is not necessary, but you can use this instead of the glue gun. I will explain more in the steps below)

I got my picture frame at Hobby Lobby. It came without backing and glass cover. You can use a fully functioning picture frame as well. I made my previous earring holder with a full functioning picture frame, I just removed the backing and glass.

Step 1: Fold Fabric in half and place picture frame on the desired spot of the fabric. If you are using a thicker fabric than you don't half to double the fabric. Doubling the fabric will create more weight, allowing the earrings to hold onto the fabric more securely.

Step 2: Cut the fabric along the picture frame. Use the picture frame as a guide to cut out the exact width needed. After the fabric is cut, remove the picture frame and straighten any jagged edges by re-cutting.

Step 3: Your fabric should look like this. Folded at the top, with the remainder three sides open. Don't worry if the sides are not that straight, it will be behind the picture frame. No one will notice, trust me!

Step 4: Glue the three sides together. Since this step can get very messy, make sure you place the fabric on an old magazine or cardboard (I used the back of my desk calendar). Make sure you use the handle of your scissors to press down the glue to make sure the fabrics are fully sealed. ***Do not use your fingers, the glue is very hot and it will burn you! I learned the hard way.
This is were the optional sewing mating comes in. If you don't want to glue the sides, you an easily sew the sides up! This will also allow you to skip the next step.

Step 5: To prevent unravelling of the fabric, paint your clear nail polish on the sides of the fabric where you just glued.

Step 6: After the fabric has dried, lay it on top of the picture frame to make sure everything lays correctly.

Step 7: Glue the top of the picture frame in whatever direction you want the frame to hang. Remember to glue the top only. This will allow the fabric to swing in and out of the frame, making it easier for you to reach your earrings when its hung on a wall.

TADA! Your done! I would love to see your recreations! Instagram a picture of your earring picture frame holder and hashtag #fashionistaDIY. Don't forget to follow me on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Laid Back Afternoon

Sometimes you don't really feel like dressing up. Today's outfit was literally just a pull on and run out the door look. My husband and I were just running some errands and I didn't feel like dressing up or having people awkwardly stare at me, which at this point I'm use to. I paired the same cat sequin tee with acid washed high waisted jeans. I love wearing crop tops with high waisted jeans because in my opinion they compliment each other. I also love this sequin cat shirt, it's so versatile.

Let me know in the comments below what you love to pair crop tops with?

Vegas Sun

On our way back from the Britney Concert, we decided to do another impromptu photoshoot. The sun was setting and the lighting was just perfect for my outfit! My entire outfit is from Forever 21, can you believe that? I really do like shopping at Forever 21. Fast fashion has really taken over. Stores like H&M, Zara and Forever 21 translate pieces that are on the runway in a mere week into stores giving devoted fashion followers who can't afford the high end price tags a chance to be fashion forward.

Today's outfit was inspired by the glittering gold in the Vegas Strip...and my love for cats! I paired a sequined crop top with a metallic gold skirt. I added a cropped leather jacket to tone down the sparkle. I love being flashy, but sometimes you need to add a neutral piece in your outfit to balance everything out.

Let me know if you love shopping at fast fashion retailers and what your favorite stores are in the comments down below!

It's Britney Bitch!

Last month I attended the Piece of Me Concert in Las Vegas. It was probably the best experience I've ever had in my life! Not only did I have front row tickets, but I was also VIP which made the entire experience unbelievable! I've been a fan of Britney Spears since she came out with Baby One More Time. Ever since then I've been one of her biggest fans! Today's post is dedicated to her concert. Honestly I was so excited for the concert, I barely got to take any pictures of my outfit! I hope you enjoy the pics, and if any of you've been to her concert in Vegas let me know in the comments below!

Until next time…

Road Trip

I apologize for my lack of post in the last couple of months, but I've been extremely busy because my husband and I have moved to California! Moving out west from the east coast has been a major change. We are still trying to adjust, but so far the experience has been amazing. The weather has been a lot more tolerable than the polar vortex my poor family has been dealing with back east. Although I do miss New York, I am happy that we are finally out here in LA. I'm just one step closer to achieving my dreams, which I will fill you in on once the ball gets rolling.

One of the great things about moving to California is the 3 and 1/2 hour drive out to Las Vegas! Driving through the desert was an unforgettable experience. The views are just breathtaking! Like any Fashion Blogger would, we decided to do a little photo shoot on our way to Vegas.

FYI-I'm trying to mix things up a bit with some DIY post and different fashion segments which I will start posting in weeks to come. Let me know in the comments below what kind of DIY or other fashion related post you would like to see!

I hope everyone's Monday is going great so far!
