IF YOU'RE GOING TO SAN FRANCISCO

Last week I got the opportunity to go the San Francisco for the weekend. I can probably say San Francisco is probably the most whimsical city I've ever been to. The steep hills, the charming houses and the amazing food makes San Francisco one of my most favorite cities in the US. Not to mention its also the home of my favorite football team, the San Francisco 49ers. The only downside is that it can get a little chilly. That's why I paired my outfit with a baseball jacket from H&M. I love the sporty/feminine look of this outfit. Even though it was a bit cold in August, I didn't mind breaking out some fall pieces for this look.

I hope everyone had a great week and have an amazing holiday weekend!

PS: Sorry I'm holding my hat in almost every picture. It was super windy and I didn't want my hat to fly into the ocean!

SUNDAY BRUNCHDAY

Who doesn't love brunch? It's breakfast and lunch combined! My husband and I decided to brunch this past Sunday. I wanted to look very feminine thats why I opted for this flared powder pink skirt from Zara. I wore a white crop and nude heels to complete this look.

My camera died by the time we got out meal, so I couldn't take any pictures of our yummy food. However, I promise to make sure it's fully charged next time!

I hope everyone is enjoying their week so far!

TRIBAL PRINT ROMPER

A few weeks ago, Fashion Nova (a boutique here in LA), contacted me to style a garment of my choice. Living in LA, I naturally gravitated to anything that had a light weight fabric and had bold patterns. I love this romper, I probably wore it once a week since I received it. I'm especially loving the pom pom detailing on the hem. I love wearing rompers in the summer time, not only are they super comfortable but they are easy to wear. I decided to style my new super trendy romper with open toe booties and a patterned clutch.

If you live in the LA area, definitely check out Fashion Nova. Not only are their clothing super cute, but everything they have is definitely on trend!

I hope you are all having a great monday!

Casual Day

Living in LA definitely has its perks, like gorgeous weather 90% of the time. This weekend has been so hot, so that means it's time to break out the shorts and crop tops. I am loving these amazing crochet panel shorts that the people over at Vanilla Star Jeans graciously sent me. Not only are they comfy but I love the way it looks with my crochet crop top from Forever 21. How do you guys wear shorts during the summer? Let me know in the comments down below.

Red White and Cheetah

First off I want to say sorry for being so MIA! Work and life took over for a bit, but I'm back in the game and I'm here to stay! I decided to post my 4th of July outfit, even though I'm technically 4 days late… My husband and I had a pretty low key fourth, we spent the day shopping than had ice cream and watched Fireworks. I hope you all had a amazing holiday and I can't wait for you to see my next post!

Floral Jumper

I'm loving the jumper trend, but just because you love a trend that doesn't mean it would look good on your body type. However, when I found this jumper dress at Urban Outfitters I was sold! Not only is it flattering, but I can totally see myself wearing this dress all summer long. What trends are you loving for summer? Tell me all about them in the comments below!

Distressed Denim

I love distressed denim. A great pair will make any outfit instantly look much cooler. Vanilla Star Jeans provided this awesome pair for today's look. I styled it with a lace top to add texture to the look. I added a pair of flip flops to give my outfit a more causal feel. I will definitely be wearing these shorts all summer long!

As you all know I love patterns! I had so much fun styling today's outfit. I love how the polka dot print of the top blends with the geometric shapes of the skirt. Polka Dot Romper

As you can see this week's theme is all about Polka Dot's. I love this print. It can make your outfit look retro, feminine and even modern. I love the fit of this romper, the tie around my waist makes it look smaller while the flared shorts accentuates my curves. What are your favorite prints? Tell me all about it in the comments below!

Stripes and Dots

I love mixing patterns, especially stripes and polka dots. I like the playfulness both prints give off when mixed together. I paired gold jewelry and added a pop of neon yellow with my clutch. The clear strip on my shoes compliments the stripes in my shirt. I added a bold red lip to compliment the black and white color palette. What do you think of today's outfit? Polka Dot Middi Dress

I've noticed there is a lot of polka dot print clothing in my closet. For some, that may come as a bit of concern. However, I love polka dots! Polka dot prints are very retro, and in my opinion it makes whatever outfit your wearing with this print very feminine. I found this flowy polka dot midi dress this weekend at Forever 21. I love how easy the dress it. I decided to toughen up the dress by adding a faux leather vest, black chuck heeled sandals and my black hipster cowboy hat. I love to mix hard and soft pieces. It allows your outfit to be dynamic. I hope everyone had a great weekend and I'll talk to you all in my next post!

Blue Chevron Maxi Dress

Maxi dresses are the best thing to wear in my opinion on a sunny, hot day. Not only are they comfortable, but they also make you feel and look very feminine. I found this bright blue chevron print dress at Macy's and I feel in love! I love the contrast pink belt the dress comes in. Also, the cut of the dress is very flattering. I decided to pair the dress with my neon yellow clutch from American Eagle. I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

White Illusion Skirt

I'm loving the interesting skirt trend thats going on this season. It gives your outfit a interesting focal point. Illusion skirts also gives your legs the illusion of looking longer. My advice would to keep the top simple. What I love the most about this illusion midi skirt is the texture. I wanted to mix the texture of the skirt with the spikes of my shoes. What are some trends you love wearing this season or would love to experiment with? Tell me all about it in the comments below!

The Green Midi Skirt

One of my favorite fashion trends this season are midi skirts. Midi skirts are so easy to wear. You can just pair a midi skirt with a basic tee or tank and your look is complete. Whether you dress it up or dress it down, midi skirts definitely make your outfit look very feminine. I paired this kelly green midi skirt with this fun chiffon polka dot sleeve crop top from Forever 21. Can you believe I bought this kelly green midi skirt about 3 years ago at H&M? Fashion definitely does reinvent itself. Sometimes its a good idea to hold on to your trendier pieces because you never know when the trend will resurface!

I'm sorry for my lack of posting last week. I went to New York for my sister-in-law's bridal shower and IMATS and did not get a chance to take any pictures of my outfits. However, I did get some goodies I can't wait to try out and review here on alishaFASHIONISTA. If you would like to see more beauty post and reviews, leave a comment down below. Blue Stripes

Today's look is a continuation of my colorful outfit obsession. I paired white jeans and white chiffon tank with a structured blue and white striped jacket. I added a neon yellow clutch and jeweled sandals to compliment the bright theme of my outfit. What I've learned about experimenting with colors is to not be afraid to mix colors in your outfit that you wouldn't normally pair together. I like to wear at least one neutral color to balance the look.

On a side note, I'll be traveling to New York this weekend for my soon to be sister-in law's bridal shower and IMATS New York! I'm super excited and will be blogging about my experience and the goodies I bring back from my trip! So make sure you visit my blog everyday next week. White, Mint & Gold

I love wearing metallics with pastels. For today's outfit I paired a mint green blouse with a white skirt and gold shoes. I love playing with colors and patterns. Adding the brown snakeskin clutch to my outfit helped to balance out the look. As the weather is starting to get warmer, I'm leaning more towards a colorful wardrobe. I have a lot of fun and bright outfits planned out for future post, so stay tuned! Until next time…

Bright Prints

I love wearing bright and colorful outfits, especially in bright prints. The key to wearing bold colorful prints is to pair it with solid colors that is a part of the print. I found this bright printed dress from windsor and instantly fell in love! I love the shape of the dress. The neckline and blouson of the bodice makes the dress very flattering. I decided to wear a bright blue blazer and a turquoise bag, which are colors I pulled from the print of the dress. Adding colorful bracelets and gold wingtip shoes adds to the bright colors in the outfit. Sorry for missing a post yesterday, I'm still recovering from all the Lucky Fabb activities I took part of this past weekend. Be sure to check my blog later in the week to see a recap of my very first Lucky Fabb experience! I hope everyone if having a great start to their week!

Spring TIme Florals

I'm obsessing over floral print this Spring! Today I paired this floral crop top with a solid pink flared skirt. I love how the skirt compliments the pink flowers in the crop top. Whenever you are trying to pair a patterned piece with a solid piece, make sure you pull out one of the colors from the pattern to make the outfit look complete. I balanced the bright colors with a nude bag and shoes. Since there is a lot of color going on in my outfit, I didn't want to look too busy. Let me know what you guys think of today's outfit in the comments below. Until next time…

I love wearing crop tops with high waisted pants and skirts. I personally think it makes crop tops look more modern. I decided to pair this super cute crop top with a all over lip print with a faux leather pencil skirt. Not only does the pencil skirt give this look a more feminine vibe, but the faux leather also adds a touch of sass to the outfit. What do you think of today's outfit? Leave me comments below!

You Can Take the Girl out of NYC….

Living in LA is great, but I definitely miss my home state some times. What I really miss about NYC is the urban vibe and the serious street style. So I decided to bring my home town vibe by deciding to pair faux leather joggers, a New York Knicks tank with a denim vest. I like the laid back, street wear vibe this outfit emulates. Adding the bowler hat and spiky tennis shoes gives this look a edgy look! What kind of style represents your hometown? Let me know in the comments below!

Stripes and Denim

Today's look is all about playing with textures and prints. I would normally pair this striped skirt with a basic black or white top, but I wanted to mix it up today. Sometimes you have to step outside your comfort zone and be a little daring. So I decided to pair a worn in denim shirt with a elastic striped black and white skater skirt. I'm pretty happy with the outcome of this outfit and I actually got a few compliments wearing it out today! What are some of your fashion risk you have recently taken? Black & Yellow

It's starting to get a little chilly in LA, which is not fun after having near summer weather. However, cooler weather means I get to layer which is always fun! I decided to pair a black aztec print cardigan with a chartreuse skirt. I love the color combo and the laid back feel. Sometimes I like to step out of my comfort zone and wear things I usually would never think of. What have you worn that is outside your comfort zone? Peace & Love

Sometimes you just want to feel comfortable! Today's look was inspired by music festival season, but in a casual and affordable way. When you running errands on the weekends, you do not want to be in 5 inch heels and a mini skirt because I'm pretty sure the folks at Target will be looking at you a bit funny! Almost everything I'm wearing today is from TJ-Maxx. I've re-discovered TJ-Maxx after moving to California. The selection at the store near me definitely has me wanting to go on a crazy shopping spree. My entire outfit was under $70, can you believe that?

I also styled my outfit today in tribute to all those, including myself, that wished they could be at Coachella this year! Music festivals are so much fun! I'm hoping to score tickets to next year festivities. Comment below if anyone is going, I would love to see your outfits!

My Fav Maxi

On Saturday, my husband decided to surprise me with a date out on the town. He didn't tell me where we were going, his only instructions was to dress up. So thats what I did! I bought this maxi dress a week ago at Macys. The color instantly drew me in! I love wearing flowy maxi dresses in the spring. Not only are they super comfortable, they are also feminine. I decided to pair this neon coral maxi dress with turquoise accessories. I love the color combo, for some reason when I think about coral and turquoise I instantly think about vacationing on a island.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and I'll see you in my next post!

Double Take

I wanted to show you all today how to style a white embosses sweatshirt 2 ways. Re-inventing outfits in your closet is probably one of the most interesting things. You can totally change the entire look of an outfit by just switching the bottom or vice versa. It's about being creative and finding new ways to reinvent the outfit. Don't be shy to wear something you already wore to school or work again. Adding a relaxed pair of jeans with a sequined top can give your outfit a daytime feel. However, by changing the jeans into a leather skirt, your outfit can quickly turn into day to night. Let me know in the comments section below if you would like to see more of this segment on my blog! Until next time…

Back to the 90's

I am super excited for the 90's trend going on this season. However, it's very important you try to modernize this trend so you don't look too outdated. Growing up in the 90's, I had to jump on this trend bandwagon. I paired a crop sweater with a floral print skater skirt and over the knee socks. I wore open toe wedges to give the look a modern twist. I was a major fan of clueless and this outfit totally reminds me of Cher Howoritz! What 90's pop culture icon/movie inspires you? Fun at Sea

This weekend my husband took me Whale Watching at Newport Beach. It was a great experience and an awesome way to kick off my Birthday weekend celebration. I love the ocean and I love the sea, so this was something that  I was totally excited for!  Plus, I love whales and dolphins and seals and fishes….basically all aquatic animals! I decided to wear something very casual because we were on a boat. I know today's outfit isn't as exciting, but I hope you guys enjoy today's post!

Tell Em' That's It's My Birthday!

First off I want to apologize for the bad image quality of the pictures. Imran (my husband) got home a little late from work yesterday. The sun was setting when we were leaving so I just decided to take the pictures quickly outside. I also apologize for the ugly background! I really wanted to post up my Birthday outfit. We went to a really nice restaurant and got some macaroons for dessert so the night was perfect! I'll be doing some exciting things this weekend and sure enough I'll have some photos to share. Until next time!

I have been eyeing this skirt from Express and I'm so happy I finally got my hands on it! I love the ladylike silhouette of the skirt. The see through panel adds a touch of sass that makes the skirt look very contemporary and desiner-esque! Spring Fling

The weather is starting to warm up, which means Spring must be in the air. Spring is definitely one of my favorite seasons. It just lifts your spirits knowing the weather is beginning to get nicer! Today's outfit was inspired by spring's blooming florals. I paired a floral print dress with a neutral bag and flats to give my outfit some balance. Side note, the 90's is totally in this season and I'm loving it! I don't know about you guys, but this dress totally made me feel like the pink power ranger (who was known for wearing easy skater dresses). I know, geek moment. DIY FRIDAY-Picture Frame Earring Holder

I decided to create a new DIY segment every Fridays called DIY Fridays. I wanted to mix things up a bit and give you all some crafty inspiration. Today I created a earring holder from a picture frame. I created one a while back when I was in NY, but I couldn't bring it over to LA with me. While I'm still waiting for my Jewelry Armoire, I decided to create this same jewelry holder but with colors that will match my apartment. 't was super easy and you can basically use any color combo you like! Let me know in the comments down below what kind of DIY's you would all like to see in the future. Enjoy!

All you need to re-create this Earring Holder is:
11"x14" Picture Frame-Hobby Lobby
1/2 yard of fabric(if the fabric's width is 45 inches, you should get a full yard to be on the safe side)-Joanns Fabrics
Glue Gun and Glue Sticks-Michaels
Scissors-The Dollar Tree
Clear Nail Polish-Inglot(any brand would be fine)
*Optional-Sewing Machine(This is not necessary, but you can use this instead of the glue gun. I will explain more in the steps below)

I got my picture frame at Hobby Lobby. It came without backing and glass cover. You can use a fully functioning picture frame as well. I made my previous earring holder with a full functioning picture frame, I just removed the backing and glass.

Step 1: Fold Fabric in half and place picture frame on the desired spot of the fabric. If you are using a thicker fabric than you don't half to double the fabric. Doubling the fabric will create more weight, allowing the earrings to hold onto the fabric more securely.

Step 2: Cut the fabric along the picture frame. Use the picture frame as a guide to cut out the exact width needed. After the fabric is cut, remove the picture frame and straighten any jagged edges by re-cutting.

Step 3: Your fabric should look like this. Folded at the top, with the remainder three sides open. Don't worry if the sides are not that straight, it will be behind the picture frame. No one will notice, trust me!

Step 4: Glue the three sides together. Since this step can get very messy, make sure you place the fabric on an old magazine or cardboard (I used the back of my desk calendar). Make sure you use the handle of your scissors to press down the glue to make sure the fabrics are fully sealed. ***Do not use your fingers, the glue is very hot and it will burn you! I learned the hard way.
This is were the optional sewing mating comes in. If you don't want to glue the sides, you an easily sew the sides up! This will also allow you to skip the next step.

Step 5: To prevent unravelling of the fabric, paint your clear nail polish on the sides of the fabric where you just glued.

Step 6: After the fabric has dried, lay it on top of the picture frame to make sure everything lays correctly.

Step 7: Glue the top of the picture frame in whatever direction you want the frame to hang. Remember to glue the top only. This will allow the fabric to swing in and out of the frame, making it easier for you to reach your earrings when its hung on a wall.

TADA! Your done! I would love to see your recreations! Instagram a picture of your earring picture frame holder and hashtag #fashionistaDIY. Don't forget to follow me on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
